Mara Explorer Camp is situated on a broad thickly forest bend of the Talek River in the middle of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Mara Explorer has its own all-weather airstrip. The superb setting and location of the camp makes for a wonderful game-watching experience, including from the comfort of your bed, bath or verandah.
The tents have been specially designed to open up to the sky and, on a deck on one side, a Victorian claws-foot bathtub offers secluded open-air bathing – and a unique new perspective of the African bush.
This luxurious tented camp is found at the meeting point of the reserve’s four major-viewing areas and enjoys prime views of the striking wildebeest movement between June and September. During the rest of the year, herds of watering elephants, giraffe and other animals, can be seen many times from your private verandah. Mara Explorer’s has own all-weatner airstrip, meaning you can be in camp not more than an hour after leaving the bustle of Nairobi. The route from the Nairobi City through the Great Rift Valley offers a scenic ride of just less five hours.
Accommodation and Meals

An intimate canvas covered dining area looks out over the river close to the camp entrance. Meals are served from own kitchens, using fresh vegetables and herbs grown in the camp gardens. Meals can also be enjoyed on your veranda, or at one of a series of specially-selected bush sites close to the camp. Next door, the camp bar provides beautiful river views and a well-stocked library, while the lounge area offers luxurious sofas for reading, playing board games, or swapping safari tales
Game drive at Safaris Mara Explorer Camp are accompanied by expert local guides.
Mara Explorer was built as an eco-friendly camp, and its operations are intended to have a lesser effect on the weak Talek eco-system. All biodegradable waste is spread on the ground for compost, whereas water heating is suppressed by briquettes made from used coffee husks
